Bandstand Busking videos, France shows + Jeff Lewis shows

Instant Coffee out on May 5th

The Wave Pictures debut album for Moshi Moshi, "Instant Coffee Baby", will be released on May 5th. It can be pre ordered from the Moshi Moshi shop here. It includes the singles "I Love You Like A Madman" and "Strange Fruit For David".

The band continue to play shows in support of the album.

Single + Album release + Tour

Strange Fruit For David, the second single taken from the forthcoming album on Moshi Moshi, will be released on April 28th. The a-side stars the excellent Dan Mayfield on violin.

The debut album for Moshi Moshi, Instant Coffee Baby, will be released a week later on May 5th.

To coincide with the realease of the album, The Wave Pictures will be undertaking a short UK tour.

Instant Coffee Tour

This April and May The Wave Pictures will be playing shows in the UK in support of their first album for Moshi Moshi. "Instant Coffee Baby" will be released on May 5th, and can be pre ordered from the Moshi Moshi shop here. It includes the single "I Love You Like A Madman" and the forthcoming single "Strange Fruit For David", which will be released on 7inch on April 28th.

As well as touring, The Wave Pictures will continue to play regularly over the summer including a number of festivals in the UK and Europe. Check the gigs page for details.

Enterprise residency begins next week + Single Release

Single Release

The Wave Pictures Residency @ The Enterprise

After playing a successful residency at The George Tavern in London, The Wave Pictures will be playing at another venue over four dates. This time at The Enterprise at Chalk Farm in North London. The shows will be on the Tuesdays of February 19th and 26th, and March 4th and 11th.

The band continue to play other shows including dates in Brighton and others in London. Some of these will be with the excellent Slow Club. Hopefully Slow Club will be joining The Wave Pictures at one date of the upcoming residency at The Enterprise. There will also be other bands supporting on the other Tuesdays.

We are afraid to announce that The Wave Pictures will now not be touring with Slow Club. The Wave Pictures do have other shows coming up and hope to have a tour booked not to far into the future. Happy New Year from The Wave Pictures! 2008 is going to be very exciting for us. Firstly we will be doing a short tour in January with Slow Club, an excellent band on Moshi Moshi records. We will also be playing other shows including a Moshi Moshi night in Paris, also with Slow Club, and other shows around London and the UK. Then later in the year our album will be out, scheduled for release sometime in March.

Residency @ The George Tavern
The Wave Pictures will be playing a residency at The George Tavern in London. There will be four shows, on the Tuesdays of November 13th and 20th and December 4th and 11th. The band will be playing songs from their upcoming album on Moshi Moshi records among other material. The 7 inch single coming out on November 26th and limited to 500 copies will also be availble to buy at these shows.

The band continue to play shows across the UK, with Darren Hayman.

7 inch release + shows
The first 7" by The Wave Pictures will be coming out on the 26th of November. The double a-side has We Dress Up Like Snowmen on the a side backed with Now You Are Pregnant. It's limited to 500 copies and is also available as a download. You can pre order a copy of the 7" from the Moshi Moshi Records website.

Following our European shows with The Wowz and Lisa Li Lund we have lots of UK dates coming up. London shows on the 15th and 16th, for John Kennedy's XFM exposure night on the 15th, and supporting Jeff Lewis on the 16th followed by a show supporting Euros Childs in Cardiff on the 22nd of October. After this we have other UK shows coming up with Darren Hayman and Emmy The Great.

This October The Wave Pictures will be joining The Wowz and Lisa Li Lund playing shows across Europe. We will be playing in Paris, Amsterdam and across Germany. Dates are on the gigs page.

Shows, 7" + Moshi Moshi Records
The Wave Pictures have signed to Moshi Moshi Records! They will be putting out our first piece of vinyl which is due to be released sometime in October. It's going to be a double a-sided 7", with We Dress Up Like Snowmen on one side and Now You Are Pregnant on the other.

As well as songs for the 7" we have been recording tracks for an album. This will also be coming out on Moshi Moshi once it is completed.

And we are playing a bunch of shows in the next week or so. Monday 11th at Koko in London and Wednesday 12th at The Fez Club in Reading, both supporting Achitecture In Helsinki, before going to The End Of The Road Festival.

Jonathan Richman show cancelled
We are sad to announce that Jonathan Jonathan: An evening dedicated to the music of Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers has been cancelled until further notice. This is due to the venue that the show was to be held at being turned into a sports bar and the promotor being sacked. Hopefully the night will be rescheduled for some time in the near future, so look out!

In the begining The Wave Pictures learned to play music together by covering Jonathan Rickman songs, as well as a little Dire Straights and Bruce Springsteen. But mainly Jonathan Richman. So we are happy to say that we will be playing at Jonathan Jonathan: An evening dedicated to the music of Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers, on Saturday 8th September. The venue is Satchmos on Stoke Newington Road.

Live Dates + Recording
The Wave Pictures will be spending time recording a new album later this month. The band have been rehearsing some new songs which we played on the recent tour of Spain and Sweden.

Between recording, the band will be playing one London show in May, for the End Of The Road Festival people. The Wave Pictures will be headlining at The Social with Je Suis Animal and Alessi Music.

On the 9th of June The Wave Pictures will be playing at The Llama Festival, somewhere in the South West of England, near the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. This festival is free to get into, and lots of other bands are playing. Check the Llama website here for details.

Spain and Sweden tour
This April The Wave Pictures are going on tour to Spain and Sweden playing as both support and backing band for the excellent Darren Hayman, formerly of Hefner. The Wave Pictures will also be playing as Darren's backing band on Spanish National television, on 16th April. This will be the longest tour The Wave Pictures have been on, and also the bands first television appearance, albiet as Darren Hayman's backing group. Moshi Moshi Party Night
The Wave Pictures will be playing a London show organised by Moshi Moshi on Thursday March 29th at The Hoxton Bar and Grill at Hoxton Square. This will be The Wave Pictures last U.K. show before going on tour in April to Spain and Sweden playing as both support and backing band for the excellent Darren Hayman, formerly of Hefner, so this will be the last chance to catch the band in the U.K. for some time.

Cardiff Show: Quench's Local Mixtape
This Sunday, March 18th, The Wave Pictures are playing at Cardiff Uni's Solus as part of a day of music from Cardiff based bands. Although The Wave Pictures are now based in London, they are happy to return to Cardiff. Other bands playing include The Loves, Gindrinker and Little My, with djing from Gary "Twisted By Design" and members of Los Campesinos. Doors are at 5pm, and tickets are £5.

Yes, The Wave Pictures are going on a tour. Not as extensive as we had planned. But we are playing two shows in France, then a few over here in the U.K. Apart from the show in Paris, we will be playing all of the shows with the lovely Lisa Li Lund. Happy New Year!
In 2007 The Wave Pictures are going on their first tour. This will be at the end of January and into February, with shows first in France and then the UK. Touring with The Wave Pictures will be fellow Smoking Gun recording artist Lisa Li Lund. Information about the shows can be found on the gigs page. There are more French dates to be added and they will be posted once we have all the details.

Meanwhile, the first Wave Pictures show of the year will be in London on January 3rd at The Pleasure Unit.

Happy Christmas Everyone!
The Wave Pictures have just been to Berlin, we had a cool time recording music and playing shows. Berlin is cool! Now we are going home for Christmas, but we will be back in the new year for shows in London at The Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green, before going on a short tour of the France and UK with Lisa Li Lund. This tour will take place at the end of January and the start of February. Details will be posted in the New Year. After a couple of shows in Cardiff we will once again be playing in London. Smoking Gun Records release Sophie!!
Finally, Smoking Gun Records have released The Wave Pictures album Sophie. This means you can buy the album in some shops, from The Smoking Gun Records website by clicking here, by e-mailing us or buying a copy from us at a show. There are only a limited amount of copies, so best to order one quickly, or come and see us play soon!

Sophie was recorded over the New Year between 2005 and 2006, and is the fifth or sixth full length album from The Wave Pictures.

The Wave Pictures have recorded "Catching Light", an album of covers of songs by André Herman Düne. André Herman Düne has also recorded an album of Wave Pictures covers, "André Herman Düne Sings The Wave Pictures". Both albums will be available to order in the near future.

New gig details!
A couple new things. First, The Wave Pictures will be playing at The Walthamstow Festival on Sunday 20th August. We will be playing on the Zen Tabloid Stage at approximately 1.30pm. That's on Highstreet Walthamstow opposite the Chequers Pub. Second, our show at The Dublin Castle was cancelled, but we will now be playing at The Water Rats Theatre instead. It's the same show as before, but at The Water Rats instead of The Dublin Castle. See the gigs page for details.

Hello. Haven't been writing much here recently. Shows in Cardiff went well, Jonny is a genius playing the drums, and also is a lovely singer too. Cool! Also played well in Manchester, shame there was no one there to see it! Oh well. Our record on Smoking Gun Records will be out sometime, but we have had a few problems with the artwork.
